“Megibung” Megibung is our signature dish. It is unique to East Bali and was created by the King of Karangasem along time ago, when he ended the war between Lombok and Bali. The King withdrew all his soldiers, and invited the King of Lombok and his dignitaries to come and join the meal. The King of Karangasem said “I want everyone to sit together today, as equals, and enjoy this meal at peace, and this will be the end of the war” and it was. Today all Balinese people in East Bali, enjoy Megibung for village celebrations, festivals, weddings and cremations.
At Bali Asli, we serve our Megibung as a 3 course meal. The main course served on traditional bamboo platters, called Kelatkat, placed in the centre of the table for everyone to share.
